My cat steps over the keyboard,
interrupting my spilling words.

He does this pretty much every time
I sit down to write.

He is saying with his entire being,
I have the power to disrupt your day

whenever I wish, but happily for you,
and having made my point,

I will settle instead on a chair nearby,
twist into an artful curve

and radiate encouragement
as my purrs give way to dreams.
