I remember my first grade teacher, Miss Mullen. They were all “Miss” back in the 50’s . I don’t believe they accepted married women. My recollections of Miss Mullen are that she was tall, slim, elegant and unflappable. She went on to become the school principal. I learned to read in her first grade class. What greater gift can there be than that!
