I don’t think wisdom and enlightenment are ever self-congratulatory, as you point out in this insightful essay, Bridget. I like the idea you expressed that sometimes we don’t fully realized we have found a teacher; sometimes only time and reflection make us realize the value of a particular person or lesson.
