Hi, Jay. I can really feel your hurt and disappointment. I have pretty much reached the end of my 5 year association with Medium. When I started with them 5 years ago, I was thrilled by the experience and the opportunity to connect with writers and readers across the globe.
I wrote and wrote, more than I ever did before. And for a few wonderful years it felt so good. But for almost two years it feels like I have been mired in an abusive relationship. My reads have dropped, my earnings have plummeted, and I have lost whatever joy I had felt back in good old 2020-2023. So I too will not be renewing my membership in 2026.
On the plus side, I have just collected many of my poems and essays about cats that I wrote on Medium for a book that I hope will be published this fall. So that is a good result from my time as a writer on Medium.
I will certainly check into Fanstory as you suggest, Jay, if only to stay connected with your writing and your kind and generous encouragement.
There is no way to give enough praise to you who has been so earnest, honest, and generous in your writing and encouragement to other writers, other than with those two very important words from me to you: THANK YOU!
